Supercar Showdown
Speedwell attended the Supercar Showdown event held at
Silverstone on 6/7 May 2006. A great weekend with loads of
visitors and an enormous amount of seriously fast cars on
track competing in various championships including the
first round of the FIA GT series.
The Speedwell sponsored team, Balfe Motorsport were racing
their Saleen in the FIA GT series and it was very exciting
to be there at the first round to offer support and
encouragement to the team. The comments from pit crew to
drivers was very positive about the Speedwell footwear
range saying how comfortable the shoes were and everyone
could see how smart the team looked.
Unfortunately the team struggled to get their GT1 car set
up properly over the course of the weekend but managed to
salvage a race finish on Sunday.
A left rear wheel problem hampered the team initially in
the opening free practice session on Friday, and although
the problem was traced and solved, it had put the team
onto the back foot for the rest of the weekend having
taken up valuable testing time.
A major change in the suspension settings overnight on
Saturday proved to be a step in the right direction for
the squad, when the track dried part-way into the race,
but a twelfth place finish - and ninth in the GT1 class -
was a frustrating start to the team's debut in the
category.
Speedwell wish the Balfe Motorsport team all the best for
the rest of the season.

Barracuda Racing Team
The first Legend Cars race at Donington for the Speedwell
supported Barracuda Racing Team had a good start to the
season with Steve Thompson finishing at the front in two
of the heats. Only being allowed to take part in two of
the three heats, Steve won his first heat securing his
31st career win. He went on to finish 3rd in the second
heat which put Steve 22nd on the grid for the final race.
Steve ended the day with a spectacular 8th place finish
overall.
The team was very impressed with their SP2’s saying how
comfortable they were and the results show !

and Realtime Racing
Speedwell are pleased to announce a sponsorship deal with
Realtime Racing. Realtime Racing provides hire kart events
for groups and individuals in the South East of England.
They have introduced some exciting new formats and spiced up
some old favourites to allow drivers to race the events they
want. Speedwell racing footwear will be available to
drivers and will be providing prizes for some of the
winners!

out and about...
Speedwell have been busy over the past couple of months, out
and about, meeting the drivers and you the public. Speedwell
met up with a few people at Snetterton recently, albeit a
very cold and windy day, but did manage to stay on the
ground with help from some sand bags!
Coffee is served as well as Speedwell footwear...

Balfe Motorsport team and drivers choose
SPEEDWELL’s
The Balfe Motorsport team were at Silverstone last week
clocking up miles on its Saleen S7R GT1 challenger with
Jamie Derbyshire and Neil Cunningham behind the wheel. It
was the first time the pair had tested the car before the
official FIA GT test and media days at Dijon.
Speedwell are very pleased to offer the drivers and the
Balfe team footwear for the season and to wish them success
for the coming season. Speedwell look forward to supporting
them at the first race at Silverstone on 7th May.
